What is the CVEC?
The CVEC (the student and campus contribution) is a contribution of €105, payable each year by students prior to enrolling in an initial training program, including distance learning, at a higher education institution. It is used to finance campus life projects to improve students' living conditions and offer a variety of activities in several areas, through:
the renewal of the prevention policy and improved access to healthcare for students;
the strengthening of social support for students;
the development of sports activities for students;
the diversification of artistic and cultural projects and events in higher education institutions;
improving student reception.
This contribution was established by the “Student Orientation and Success” Act , promulgated on March 8, 2018.
Here is the circular setting out the priority guidelines for student life policy and providing examples of actions that can be financed by the CVEC funds paid to institutions. To understand how this contribution works, you can consult the official bulletin
How to pay?
Students pay their contribution, by payment or exemption, prior to registration, at https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr/
Some students, such as scholarship recipients, are automatically exempt or can request a refund.
Enrollment in initial training is only validated once the student has paid the CVEC, either by payment or exemption, depending on the situation.
The certificate of payment provided by the Crous is essential to finalize enrollment in an institution.

Cosmopolitan, lively, and dynamic, Montpellier is regularly ranked among the top student cities in France. And that’s no coincidence! Forward-thinking and open-minded, Montpellier is known as the youngest city in France: one in five residents is a student from all corners of the world. Thanks to this youthful energy, Montpellier is a city that’s always on the move, naturally buzzing with life.
With more than 70,000 students, Montpellier is a green city committed to the environment, with more than 270 sports facilities, a lively nightlife and cultural scene, and the sea just a stone's throw away, so you can study under the sun!
The campus is ideally located, in a quiet neighborhood but still close to the city center, which is bursting with activity and cultural venues. Montpellier, the city nicknamed “La surdouée” ("the gifted one") appeals to students for its dynamism, its architecture and its proximity to the sea.
To learn everything there is to know about Montpellier, visit the tourist office at the far end of Place de la Comédie (the large central square in downtown Montpellier) or check out their website. Find the tourist map of Montpellier’s neighborhoods, the Montpellier Méditerranée Magazine, the Montpellier City Card, and the Montpellier Méditerranée Languedoc tourist map on this page: https://www.montpellier-tourisme.fr/pratique/nos-brochures/
